TheAcademy

From a first swing on the Pine Nine to a single-figure handicap, The Academy brings on golfers of every age.

It is run by a team of PGA professionals from the Academy building beside the practice ground, with an indoor studio for the winter months. Lessons are open to members, their families and their guests, and can be booked through the Pro Shop.

First swings

For complete beginners of any age. Six small-group sessions take you from grip and stance to your first round on the Pine Nine, with clubs provided.

Juniors

Saturday mornings from the age of six, in small groups by age and ability. Juniors progress through the Academy colours, from white to pine, and play their first competition when they are ready.

Coaching

Individual lessons, playing lessons on the course and short game sessions with any of our professionals, supported by video and launch monitor analysis in the studio.

Club fitting

A full fitting in the studio and on the range, with heads and shafts from the leading makers. Clubs are built and adjusted in our own workshop.

The Professionals

  • Hannah Clarke

    Head of the Academy

Hannah came to Bracken Heath from the coaching staff of a European Tour academy and has led the Academy since 2019. A PGA Advanced Professional, she coaches everyone from first-time golfers to county players, and is known for keeping things simple.

  • Tom Ashworth

    Head Professional

Tom grew up playing the Heath Course as a junior member and returned as Head Professional in 2015. He runs the Pro Shop, the workshop and the club's competitions, and still plays off plus two.

  • Lucy Harding

    Junior Programme

Lucy leads the Saturday juniors and the First swings course. A former county champion, she believes the best way to learn golf is to fall in love with it first.
